Open End denim

The denim most people are familiar with is "Open End Denim". The term Open End Denim describes the yarn that is used to weave the denim. About 17 years ago, a process was developed that was more economical and produced a more consistent yarn thickness. For the jean purist, this denim is considered too refined and does not posses the unique character or strength of the denim of the past.

LHT - The LHT, left hand twill, weave runs diagonally from right to left in a northwesterly direction. These denims are softer, fluffier fabrics.

Double Dyed Denims

This means that colored yarns are woven into the width and the length of these medium-weight denims. When double dyed denims fray they won't show white, they'll show the color of the denim. Indigo denims and some colored denims are single dyed denims. They are woven with two colors, white in the width, and a color in the length. When these denims fray white threads are exposed.
