Silk Velvet
Our Silk Velvets are two toned because the base fabric is one color and the nap is another,
with every fold of the fabric you see the underlying base color shining through. This is a high
fashion fabric lending it's use primarily to couture designs. Jeans made from silk velvet are
breathtaking, perfect for any black tie event. For women I recommed having them made only with
front pockets, this way you eliminate the blue jean look by eliminating the back pockets and the
coin pocket.
For easy, professional cleaning have them dry cleaned. They can be hand washed in cold water
and air dried. To dry them, lie flat on a towel overnight. You may have to flip them over to
finish drying the next day. Silk is one of nature's strongest natural theads. Technically speaking, "a fine strong
continuous filament produced by the larva of certain insects, especially the silk worm when
constructing its cocoons. Silk is noted for its strength, resiliency, and elasticity."
Dictionary of Fiber & Textile Technology, Hoechst Celanese 1990. "A warp-pile woven fabric with short, dense cut pile that produces a rich fabric appearance and
soft texture. Velvet is produced in a wide range of constructions and types. Originally made of
silk, but now also of cotton or manufactured fibers giving fabrics that are sometimes washable."
